1926 - 1951

Dedication from the 1951 Kampus

The staff and sponsors of the '51 Kampus respectfully dedicate this annual to Miss E. N. Carr, who is leaving us this year. She will be sorely missed by both students and staff.

Miss Carr, who was born in Mt. Lehman, B.C., came to Kamloops in 1926, and since that time has been associated with the teaching staff of K.H.S. in the capacity of Commercial Instructor. Miss Carr is a graduate of the Faculty of Arts of Queen's University and in addition, holds a Commercial Specialist's Certificate.

Many Commercial Graduates, under the unobtrusive guidance of Miss Carr, have found employment in the business world. Some of her former students now hold prominent executive positions. Miss Carr has been unceasing in her efforts to help the Commercial student and her efforts have been deeply appreciated.

Dramatics in this school have been molded under the capable hands of Miss Carr. She has been the director of many plays but the most notable achievement was the “Merchant of Venice" presented a few years ago. She has always been keenly interested in student affairs and has always lent a helping hand.

Painting and weaving are Miss Carr's hobbies. Many of her paintings, as well as lovely pieces of weaving have appeared in local art exhibits. Because of her interest in Art and Dramatics, she is an active member of the local Art Club and the Little Theatre.

Miss Carr's plans for the future are indefinite, but she hopes to reside at the coast.

The former students and graduates, especially Commercial students, keenly regret, the departure of Miss Carr from K.H.S. Her former students are deeply indebted to her for her assistance in estab1ishing them in their particular field of endeavour.

In view of her devotion to the school and of the numerable things she has done for the students, we feel that it is only fitting that the '51 Kampus be dedicated as a tribute to Miss E. N. Carr.
