The 1965 - 66 Annual Staff proudly dedicates this year's KAMPUS to Mr. J. D. McWhannel.
Mr. McWhannel was born in Brandon, Manitoba, but soon moved to Winnipeg where he completed all of his primary education. After receiving his B.A. from the University of Manitoba, he attended Oxford where he earned an M.A. Returning from Europe, he gained a B. Ed. degree from the University of Alberta. Mr. McWhannel began teaching at K.S.S. in 1954 and has specialized in Canadian History. In the past year, he has spent a great deal of time developing a reference library for the Social Studies Course.
But a dedication should emphasize the qualities of a man. Countless students remember Mr. MWhannel's quiet humour; his discipline, resulting from respect rather than from fear; and his classes, which are not only informative but interesting, so that only in retrospect do we realize the amount of knowledge gained. Other students will remember always the encouragement, aid, and advice which he gave so willingly to any who asked. For Mr. McWhannel takes a deep and sincere interest in his pupils and as a result many have become much better citizens and people.
The students of K.S.S. hope that some measure of their gratitude can be expressed to Mr. McWhannel through this dedication.
