 Esme Foord1942 - 1956
- Esme Foord was a pioneer teacher at Celista on the North Shuswap
- During the 1940’s she became an elementary teacher at Stuart Wood Elementary School
- In 1942 to 1953 she taught Math and Social Studies at KHS
- In 1947 to 1949 she served as the Schools Counsellor for girls. She was a strong advocate for each girl and a solid supporter and sponsor of Kajinkas
- She then worked as a district counselor and completed her Ph.D. before returning to KHS in 1952 to 1956 as the Girl’s Consellor and Guidance teacher.
Students state:- "She gave sound advice and supported our choices of subjects always making certain that we were accepting a challenge within our potential abilities."
- "She encouraged us to go on to better and greater things."
- "She had studied psychology and encouraged us to explore that discipline as a worth while occupation and interest."
- "She was a devoted and caring teacher and counselor."
