Chris was born Apr 22, 1950 in Kamloops. He was the eldest of 5 brothers and was a great example of sportsmanship and dedication to them. He tolerated his older sister Sandra. Chris had a great love of sports and participated in football, rugby, soccer and track & field. His prowess on the football field led to a scholarship at Walla Walla Community College in Washington state. But the sport he loved best was baseball playing Babe Ruth and senior baseball. While playing with the Kamloops Okonots he was selected to play with Team BC. The award for the best defensive player at the Kamloops International Baseball Tournament is the Chris Swaine Memorial trophy. He was known as a holler guy and someone who always came through in clutch situations.
Chris died as a result of a motor vehicle accident on his way to work at Gibraltar Mines. At the time of his passing May 22, 1975 (just one month after his 25th birthday) he was employed as a haul truck operator at Gibraltar Mines near Williams Lake. He never had a chance to see his daughters Daryle and Deborah grow up and give him three beautiful grandsons; Craig, Brennan and Eric. Eric is following in his grandpa's athletic ways. He left behind his wife Jacquie, daughters Daryle & Deborah, sister Sandra Dever and brother Doug, Bill, Les and Andy. A life well lived and far too short.
