John (Jack) Fulton was known as "Moose" in the Royal Canadian Air force. He was a distinguished member of Canada's Air Service during World War II and rose to the rank of Wing Commander. The plane he was in was shot down returning from a bombing mission over Germany and Wing Commander Fulton lost his life.
The Kamloops airport was, on May 29th, 1944 "Dedicated in Honour of Wind Commander John Fulton, D.S.O., D.F.C., A.F.C., and the men of the air service from Kamloops and District" by His Excellency Major General Earl of Athlone K.G. Governor General of Canada.
