Ksenia, or Sandy, as most friends knew her, grew up in Kamloops and Jasper. She passed in November 2014.
She had a strong Ukrainian background and spoke Ukrainian before she spoke English. She finished high school in Kamloops and joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1953. Her Air Force career took her to Summerside PEI and France. While in Europe, she met many lifelong friends, including her husband, Daniel. After getting married in 1957, she had her first daughter, Kim, in France. They were then posted to Ontario, where Daniel finished his Air Force career, and she had another daughter, Kari. In early 1969, the family moved to Kelowna, settling in Peachland on Victoria Road and later Princeton Ave. She began working at the Municipal Office in Peachland in the late ’70s and continued there for 18 years until her retirement. She loved being back in British Columbia and reconnected with much of her mum’s family. She was quietly proud of her daughters and granddaughters and loved to spend time with her “girls.” She will be greatly missed at Christmas, her favourite time of year, and on crisp fall days when the sun streams through red and yellow leaves.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Daniel, daughters Kim (John) Fenton, Kari Kerr and her granddaughters Sarah, Amber and Emily.
